Teaching Project Management

Active Learning Activities

Below are a several of the activities that I have used to teach Predictive and Agile project management, with original sources and my own slide decks and downloads. There are several reasons for using active activities or simulations when teaching project management:

  • For undergraduates and others with no experience working on a project, it gives them examples on which to anchor some of the concepts that you have or will be teaching.
  • For professionals undergoing an agile transformation, learning the concepts with something like legos or minecraft allows for exploration of the techniques, roles and outcomes of new methods using a “non-work” example or concept.

Predictive activities
  • Paper Tower (Concept(s): Estimation, Earned Value).
